This time last week, the attendees of the Yorkie Talkies Grand Christmas Ball were looking forward to putting on our glad rags and Emma was putting the beautiful finishing touches on the Tipi.
And OH what a night we had! The tent looked stunning, the wall of photographic memories was sparkling and the tables were dressed to perfection with yummy iced biscuit favours (by Blonde Bakery York) presented in cute handmade gift boxes and mountain themed table numbers.
And the food....from the first glass of warming mulled wine to last squishy marshmallow toasted over the open fire...it was all delicious. (There has been A LOT of love for the pigs in blankets and selection of mouth-watering desserts)
One of the highlights of the night was the Awards Ceremony, some were tongue in cheek and delivered with affection, others were heartfelt and an expression of our pride. Well done to all the winners!
The raffle, well it was HUGE, so many amazing prizes were donated by local businesses and Yorkie Talkies members. The support was overwhelming and we are thrilled with the amount raised for Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue - £2188! Thank you! Ned Roberts, a volunteer for Scarborough and Ryedale MRT was kind enough to attend and tell us all about the work that he and his teammates do to keep us safe when we are on the hills and moors of our gorgeous county.
So, ooodles of thanks to everyone who came along, bought a raffle ticket or donated a prize. It was lovely to see everyone in 'civvies' dancing, chatting and laughing together. It was said on the night, Yorkie Talkies Outdoors is more than a walking group or a outdoor activity provider....it's a supportive and vibrant community to be proud of. Here's to an exciting year ahead!
